A Guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property
Stayed 4 days in January, 2009
WE had a wonderful time, loved the cozy, comfortable Thayer House and would recommend it to anyone. Check in was adequate although not very friendly but I felt better once we saw the lovely location of the house and the good condition in which the housekeeper had left it for us. When we left on Sunday morning we waited for the office to open as long as we could but no one came so we had to give up and leave the keys. Three suggestions for future guests: the sink in the downstairs bathroom does not drain properly and needs to be fixed; the lock on the front door is a problem and gave us difficulty each time we tried to enter; the instructions for recycling are contradictory and confusing. Apparently glass cannot be put with recycling so we had no choice but to leave several bottles in the kitchen. One last comment is that many, if not most, of the residents of Cannon Beach appear to resent the outsiders. This mild but rather disturbing attitude has been noticed by many of our friends so perhaps the citizens who clearly benefit from the tourist trade should think about it. I have been in the theater all my life and cannot imagine not liking and respecting the audience who makes my work possible. In the end, these are minor quibbles because we had a wonderful time and look forward to returning one day.
