Calipso Cottage

We had a lovely stay at the Calipso Cottage. There was plenty of room for all 6 of us plus our two pups. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils and cookware. The furnace did stop working while we were there, but the property manager immediately brought over an electric heater and plenty of firewood for us, and everything was warm and cozy again.

There was easy access to the beach, and we saw elk out on the beach at sunset on our second night there. We also walked into town, and enjoyed the holiday lights. All in all it was a wonderful vacation at a lovely home.

We loved the house. It’s small but was perfect for the 3 of us and our dog. There is a washer and dryer next to the house in a shed. It does not tell you that in the book but the rental agency messaged up back promptly and told us were it was. The stairs to go to the loft were interesting. But we managed. It’s a bit of a walk to town if you have a kid (7) but we just drove and parked in public parking no big deal. The beach is close to the house but it’s a pretty big hill to climb and a big hill down to the actual beach. We just drove to an easier access. The rental agency was quick to respond to our messages and was very nice. I think the house could have been stocked a little better we were there for 9 nights and they did not stock accordingly . We had to buy toilet paper and trash bags. Over all loved the rental agency and would rent from them again.

We had a wonderful time during our visit to Cannon Beach and the Cottage was a perfect place to lay our heads. The property managers were very responsive and even stopped over to help when I was unable to find something I needed.

Place was awesome and we would rent again. Fridge needs to be replaced. It looks like it’s been at the bottom of Ecola Creek at some point and was hauled up and refurbished. The stains (rust???) on the outside are nasty looking and is a giant eyesore in an otherwise beautiful place. I understand that things are expensive for everyone but you can get one new at Home Depot for $500. There really isn’t any excuse for this. Just being honest.

The rental was pretty much as described. It's somewhat rustic but nice. The refrigerator door showed signs of stains but the inside was clean. Overall it was a good experience. The only three negatives was that there was no umbrella for the front deck area to enjoy the deck, found some kind of medicine(pill) under the bed, and the backyard was unusable due to all the weeds and grasses. It would have been nice if they had mowed prior to our arrival.

The cottage was perfect for us,we celebrated our 40th anniversary there. beds were super comfortable, as was the furniture. Kitchen was great, nice having a dishwasher. Wish there was a clothes washer and dryer (somehow I missed that when booking), but we managed. So close to the beach, loved the walk there and also an easy walk to town! We enjoyed the shops and galleries!! Also a quick drive to Seaside and Astoria which was great!! The big pine tree in the front deck was a bit of a pain as it dripped sap on the car no matter where we parked, but it washed off fairly easily. We stayed the first two weeks of June, weather was great.

The house was in good shape and clean. It’s in a nice quiet neighborhood. The access to the beach is pretty difficult so you really need to drive into town. The listing said there was a clothes washer, but there is none. We enjoyed our stay here overall.

Its a good home away from home but needs a few items fixed. The front and back have deck boards that need replacing and could be a hazard. The spiral stairs would be accessible by more if there were some traction strips on the stairs. While its a well loved house, its at the point where it needs a deep cleaning and some;painting. The futance may need to be checked as it makes a load bang each time it turns on.

Location of Calipso cottage can’t be beat: just a short walk to town and even shorter to the beach. Unfortunately the cottage itself is beat and needs a refresh. The day we arrived we found a. Christmas sick in one of the beds and sand in the sheets in another, and the first plates we pulled from the each had dishwasher dried on food on them so going forward we hand washed. Gave us the overall feeling of not being cleaned well. We will look for another rental on the same area but won’t be back.

Calipso Cottage is in a great location - close to the beach. The staircase is not suitable for small children, but is fine for adults. The deck outside is a great place to sit and watch the elk stroll by.

A perfect place for my childhood best friend and I to stay with our dogs! The backyard is fenced (and well guarded by blackberry bushes) with enough space for the dogs to explore. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a nicely stocked kitchen allowed us to cook breakfast, make snacks, reheat leftovers, etc. The living room has a couch and two chairs, a TV (no Roku, so bring yours if you want to stream your shows), and a DVD player with many movies stocked on the bookcase (no “Goonies” DVD, so bring your own to get into the Cannon Beach / Astoria mood). A nice walk to town (several blocks with local bunny viewing in the evenings!) for dinner or out onto the beach. The cottage is north of Ecola Creek, so if it’s not low tide and you want to go to Haystack Rock, the easiest beach access would require you to walk a few blocks and cross the creek via Fir Street before finding a beach access point. It was nice to walk through the very dog-friendly town to go to the market and shops. The Pelican Brewery was incredible and we could have our dogs with us! Calipso Cottage was just what we needed for a lovely week at Cannon Beach!

Overall, this was a beautiful home and we had a great experience. CBPM called to check in on us and make sure our arrival went well. We were a little disappointed that we didn't have any shampoo upon arrival and needed to go buy some. A little bottle in the shower would have been great. The home had a bit of a musty smell and we had a few centipedes to contend with. The furnace was VERY loud especially when trying to sleep. Frustratingly, the upper loft window faces east and the window covering does a terrible job of filtering out the light. Don't try to sleep too late! Same goes for the bunk room on the main floor. There is no blind on the window and our kiddo was up at sunrise! The inside can use a little more deep cleaning. Some of the dishes were dusty as were the bookshelves and DVDs. All of the personal effects in the home make you feel like you are intruding on someone's personal space. I'd still return. The location is amazing, easily walkable to shopping, food and the beach. Saw lots of elk and other wildlife.

The well supplied home, the ambiance, the friends, the comfortable beds, the living area. Perfect. Oh, except the lid to the coffee pot was a challenge to get it secure.

This cottage is everything you want to experience in a beach house. Three lifelong friends (62 & 41 years of friendship) were lucky to find this charming cottage. It is a short walk to the north side of the creek where we saw a large gathering of black pelicans. Heavy rain kept us inside for a day but it was well spent in the warm and cozy living area. We had light rain the next day, walked into town for some shopping and lunch and settled in for another evening of talking. The cottage provided great ambiance for relaxing, laughing and fun. None of us wanted to leave so we agreed to go again in the fall. We highly recommend Calipso Cottage.

The property is advertised as a 3 bedroom and could accommodate 6 people, but this is overstated in my opinion! The "Loft" is accessed via a spiral staircase and is open to below (not really a bedroom) but it has a queen bed in the room. The second bedroom downstairs is a bunk bed in a very tiny room with very little floor space and it is the only portion of the home's interior that provides access to the back yard. The WiFi at this property was horrible with only 1.5 mps, barely enough speed to open up a pdf document and streaming from a computer is very poor. In my opinion, a rental home should have high speed internet WiFi and it is available in this neighborhood with Spectrum! On a positive note, the house is situated in a great North Canon Beach location on a quiet residential street and the property has a nice front deck. The living room is very comfortable for 5 people and the kitchen was very nice and well equipped.

House sleeps 6 nicely. It’s small and cozy. The fire place is a nice feature. Only downside is it was not very clean. Dust and grime over many surfaces and dirty dishes in the cupboards. You are charged a cleaning fee but it doesn't look like that money was well used on this property. I have stayed at other properties of theirs that didn’t have this problem so maybe this is an anomaly

The house had everything we needed. We loved doing puzzles and playing games. I loved cooking in the kitchen - nice pots, pans, sharp knives, griddle for pancakes and waffle maker. The beach is a short stroll only one block away and we made a fire at the beach most of the nights we were there. The closest beach is much less crowded but still has a nice view of haystack rock. We loved our stay and can't wait to come back!

We've stayed at another property from CBPM and it was nice to check out a new spot this trip. The house is on the north end of town which was great for our pup who isn't quite ready for the ocean - you have Ecola creek that's sort of a "mini beach" that he was able to run and play. The house is really nice and had all the amenities we needed!

great little house. it had a lot of charm and personal décor made us feel right at home. great selection of books, games, cds, and movies. beach was up a short steep hill but still great access. only disappointment was with the dish service. main tv only received a few obsure channels so no local channels for news or some basic shows. Small bedroom tvs had good selection of local/movie channels so not sure why main tv could not access the same channels. It might be a little tight for 6 but was perfect for four. It was clean, nicely maintained, well equipped kitchen, and theater poster/ocean décor was great! Property management company was very friendly and professional. thank you!

We stayed here with my parents for a weekend and really enjoyed the house. It was quiet, cozy, and close to the beach. The only issue we had was that the fireplace had malfunctioned for the previous guest and the whole place reeked like a campfire. We left the windows and doors open almost constantly trying to air the place out, and we didn't attempt our own fire. If the fireplace is important to you and you're staying here soon, make sure to ask if that issue has been resolved.

While his was a very nice quaint house, it was not the right fit for our family. We have two young children, 7 months and 4 years, and they, as well as us, we're having a hard time avoiding the giant spiral staircase that descends from the loft. The house is not very big so the staircase takes up quite a bit of living space. Aside from that, it was a cozy little cottage that is well maintained and not very far from the beach our town. I just wouldn't recommend it for families with very young children.

I liked that the house was in a quiet neighborhood. It was a quick, 10 minute walk to get downtown. The laundry facilities were a plus. The gas grill was also great.

The only complaints I would have is it would have been nice to have a garbage disposal. We cooked most of our meals there with our family and by not having a disposal was inconvienent.

Also, an outside shower would have been nice. We did find a hose with a shower sprayer on it to help a few days into our trip but having an outside shower to clean off the sand from the beach would have been ideal to keep sand out of the house.

Overall it was nice.

The cottage was of good size and comfort for our family of three children and three adults. The decor was fun and cute. I was very pleased with the location and the area of the beach that the cottage was by. The backyard was unkept but overall the place was in good order. We will definitly stay there again

My son and his friend shared the bunk bed room, and both found it extremely uncomfortable, the mattresses were squishy and the support was entirely missing. My son actually spent the second night sleeping on the sofa.

Other than that our vacation was perfect, the kitchen was spacious for a small cottage and well-appointed with newer appliances that made cooking enjoyable, not a chore.

This place had an amazing home feel to it. It's only a couple blocks from the beach. It is on the other side of the small river so it seems to be less crowded than the southern part of cannon beach, but still within walking distance to town. Great place to stay!

It is located close to town, but unfortunately you cannot walk along the beach to town without taking your shoes off to walk through the shallow river. Not a problem in the summer, but in late fall, it was a little too chilly to go barefoot! You can get to town via the road with no issue. About a ten minute walk.

Our short vacation at Calipso Cottage was wonderful ! The only thing we were sad about is that we only had three days and two nights. We all would have enjoyed a couple more days.We'll definitely be back to visit this little gem in Cannon Beach.

The house was a little small for six of us; but we had a good time. There is no view but it is convenient to town and has a good back yard for dogs. The closest beach is at the far north end of town; but it's not hard to get to a beach you like around here!

We visited Cannon Beach for my daughter's wedding at Breaker's Point. What an ideal location for this event. She dressed for the wedding at the cottage as well as the bridesmaids and myself--mother of the bride. What a nice memory and then to just walk up the hill and to see the Pacific as the backdrop for the wedding. The cottage was clean and cozy. We enjoyed our stay and we would recommend Calypso Cottage to others.

The house was cute/funky, clean and conveniently located. The downstairs bed was hard as concrete -- didn't work for me. The upstairs bed was ok, but you have to climb a narrow spiral staircase.

This was a great place for our needs. 2 blks from the beach. Close enough to town to be able to walk in. We tend to cook our own meals and found the kitchen well-equipped for doing this.

We stayed 3 nights at the Calypso house in late July and enjoyed it very much. The property management staff made the resevation, payment and check in/check out very easy. For a relatively small house, it feels quite big. We had 6 people and everyone enjoyed it very much. The deck faces west for nice afternoon sun and the beach is a short walk up the street. We walked into town several times too. The house had everything we needed and was in good general shape for a rental beach house. We only found 4 bath towels though, so we ran short for 6 people, but we did find a few beach towels in a dresser drawer which sufficed. I would recommend the Calypso house for a group of 6 or less anytime!
